Urinal for your composting toilet: Trelino, BOXIO, Kildwick, Separett
Wall-mounted waterless urinal for owners of a urine-separating composting toilet — Trelino, BOXIO, Kildwick, Separett, CompoCloset. It hangs on the wall beside the toilet with two screws, and urine is collected separately in a jerrycan. The composting chamber stays dry and is emptied far less often.
Why the liquid container overflows
In a separating composting toilet, most of the volume is urine. Compact units have a small liquid container, and with two users it fills in a couple of days — emptying becomes too frequent a chore. The design itself works fine; the one problem is that the container can't keep up with the volume of liquid.
Pi-Pi solves precisely that: men go standing, against the wall, and all of their volume bypasses the toilet into a separate jerrycan. Your toilet's container fills two to three times slower, the composting chamber stays dry, and emptying becomes a rare job.
Technical facts
- Weight 1.4–1.5 kg: two screws onto any wall beside the toilet, including thin partitions
- LLDPE material: operating range −30 to +60 °C, suited to an unheated washroom, cabin or van
- Installation 15–30 minutes: no plumber, no special tools
- Stepped outlet Ø24/32/40 mm: connects to Trelino, BOXIO, Kildwick, Separett and CompoCloset outlets without an adapter
- Standard: closed top, for fitting without ventilation
- Standard Plus: Ø70 mm top inlet to tie into the toilet's existing ventilation
What to do with the collected liquid
- Fertiliser: diluted 1:10 with water it feeds tomatoes, cucumbers and squash in the greenhouse or bed
- In compost: 6 parts urine to 1 part peat speeds decomposition and holds nitrogen in the heap
- For disposal: a flat jerrycan tips out in a couple of minutes
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my composting toilet?
Yes. The stepped outlet Ø24/32/40 mm connects to Trelino, BOXIO, Kildwick, Separett and CompoCloset drains without an adapter, and the Ø70 mm top inlet on Standard Plus ties into the existing vent.
Will there be a smell?
No. Ammonia odour develops when urine meets solids; in a separate urinal that doesn't happen. The jerrycan is rinsed with water every 1–2 weeks.
Pi-Pi complements your composting toilet — it doesn't replace it
You already run a Trelino, BOXIO, Kildwick, Separett or CompoCloset, and with two users the liquid container keeps overflowing. Pi-Pi doesn't compete with your toilet: it's a separate wall urinal, men use it standing, and all the urine bypasses the composting chamber — straight into a jerrycan or the existing vent. The composting chamber stays dry, the toilet handles only solids, and you empty it far less often.
- Trelino Origin / Evo: the Standard bottom outlet feeds the liquid jerrycan, the Ø70 mm top inlet on Standard Plus ties into the Trelino vent
- BOXIO Toilet: with two users the BOXIO jerrycan overflows in a couple of days — Pi-Pi adds a second circuit and clears the problem
- Kildwick, Separett, CompoCloset: drain into the liquid container, vent through Ø70 mm without an adapter
Seamless connection: the stepped outlet Ø24/32/40 mm meets the pipe already there, and the Ø70 mm top inlet on Standard Plus meets the existing ventilation duct without an adapter.
