Will a urinal help if there is a cassette toilet in the motorhome?
Yes, the urinal can help: it collects urine separately from the toilet, so less liquid enters the cassette, and the cassette fills up more slowly. The urinal complements the cassette toilet and does not replace it: it works alongside, not instead of it.
What changes when liquid is separated
The Pi-Pi waterless urinal is not connected to the toilet: liquid drains by gravity through a stepped outlet Ø24/32/40 mm and a hose into a separate container and does not enter the cassette. How much longer the cassette lasts depends on how many people are traveling and how often the toilet is used standing up.
What doesn’t change
The urinal is designed for standing use, and the cassette toilet is still needed for solid waste. You empty the cassette as before, just less frequently. This adds the urinal’s container: how often to empty it depends on its volume and the number of users; more details are in the answer how often to empty the urinal container and how to do it.
Who will notice this the most
- families or groups where men and boys often use the toilet;
- people traveling as a couple or in a larger group who want to deal with the cassette less often;
- people who stay in one place for a long time and want the cassette to last longer.
Odor and maintenance
The liquid goes into a closed container and does not stagnate in the bowl, so the urinal does not smell as long as the container is closed, the hose fits tightly into the neck, stays clean, and runs down without sagging. When you empty the container, rinse it and the hose. The Standard Plus and Standard Corner have a Ø70 mm port on top for ventilation. Detailed information about odor causes and checks is in the answer about the odor of the waterless urinal.
Which model to choose for a motorhome
For tight spaces, there is a corner model Standard Corner: it fits in a corner and does not take up space along the wall. Straight models are designed for a straight wall: Standard with a closed top and Standard Plus with a Ø70 mm port. Each urinal weighs 1.4–1.5 kg. For installation locations, mounting, and container placement, see the answer where and at what height to hang the urinal.
Where to start
- Decide where the urinal will hang in the motorhome and where the container will be placed: the container should be below the outlet. Secure the container so it does not move during travel, and keep the hose end in the neck. On a thin wall, mount the urinal to a post or reinforcement.
- Choose a model: Standard Corner for a corner, Standard or Standard Plus for a straight wall.
- Select a hose for one of the outlet steps: 24, 32, or 40 mm (how to choose the step and trim the outlet).
- Secure the urinal on a solid base: installation takes 5–7 minutes, without a plumber. Standard Corner mounts directly in the corner, without a mounting plate (how to install the urinal).
If you are unsure whether the urinal will fit your layout, describe the motorhome and installation location: you will receive a written response.
